KB Components has recently acquired Lunketec, an injection molding company located in El Puebla, about 150 km south of Mexico City, Mexico
Lunketec had previously German owners and a strong connection to the German automotive industry. It was established in April 2009 and has since grown into a company with over 100 employees and an annual turnover of about 60 million SEK. The company has a very strong customer base, where Volkswagen and Audi stands out with its assembly plants close to El Puebla and thus very close to the location of Lunketec. The company is facing a strong growth with a number of new projects which will lead to a significant increase of turnover in the coming years. Lunketecs production and warehouse premises are 4 300 m2 and the premises are rented on a long term contract.
The acquisition of Lunketec is strategically important because it enables KB Components to enter the rapidly growing North American market with the ability to offer low-cost production. Mexico is a market with an increasing automobile production, and within a few years, every year 5 million cars will be built there. KB Components expect to gradually be able to offer its existing customers in Europe, deliveries from Mexico to their assembly plants in North and South America.
