KB Components produces extruded parts at our site in Zilina, Slovakia. The department was expanded/upgraded in 2019 and today offers a wide assortment of extruded products. Our main focus is on producing parts for the lighting industry in materials such as PS, PMMA and polycarbonates, but we also produce products made from PP, PE, ABS and opalic LED materials.
The technology of extrusion is based on a single-screw extruder with a melt pump unit attached. This provides a stable output for the tool with less problems for the weight, thickness and flow on the profiles.
Tooling consists of a heated anticorrosive steel dye system and a series of dry callipers made from brass with cooling water and vacuum. This is mainly to ensure clearness for our lighting customers’ products, but we also use water baths/ cooling units for non-transparent materials such as PP and PE. The products are additionally cooled by inline air coolers along the extruder line. This ensures less stress on the parts.
Our pullers are made with belts from materials which do not make any markings on the profiles. The sawing unit is made for precision cutting in lengths from 350 mm to 6 m. We also offer co-extruded parts, where we combine two materials together in different colours.
Our machinery consists of 4 extruders and 2 co-extruders from German manufacturers Kuehne and IDE.
